JOHN Wall made up for a cold start with a strong finish as the Washington Wizards held on to beat the Denver Nuggets, 92-85, at the Verizon Center on Thursday (Friday, Manila time)

Wall scored nine of his 15 points in the fourth quarter and added some key defensive stops to help the Wizards bounce back from a loss against the Brooklyn Nets where he scored a career-high 52.

Denver limited Wall early and started the game with a 24-10 run but Washington trimmed the gap to five at the break. Bradley Beal and Markieff Morris led a 9-0 blitz late in the third and closed out the period strong for the Wizards to take a 75-73 lead into the fourth.

After the Nuggets’ 8-4 start in fourth, Wall took over to regain the lead and even had a crucial steal with 1:55 left and the Wizards holding a slim advantage to seal the win.

Beal had 26 points, including four triples, to lead Washington. Wall and Morris added 15 apiece to help the Wizards improve to 8-13.

Nikola Jokic came off the bench to lead the Nuggets with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Danilo Gallinari and Jusuf Nurkic added 14 and 13 markers, respectively, but Denver lost two in a row to fall to 8-15.
