JABARI Parker is set to become an unrestricted free agent as the Washington Wizards declined the team option on the former No. 2 pick, according to Yahoo Sports.
The Wizards acquired Parker in a trade with the Chicago Bulls in February.
It doesn’t mean the Wizards and Parker are all set to part ways.
Parker, who has had two ACL injuries, was supposed to get $20 million in the second year of a two-year deal.
According to Chase Hughes of NBC Sports, both parties are willing to negotiate.
The 2014 No. 2 draft pick averaged 15 points and 7.2 rebounds in 25 games for the Wizards.
John Wall is out due to a ruptured Achilles tendon and the Wizards are looking to further boost the squad after taking Rui Hachimura in the draft.
