Wizards rally to beat Hawks for two-game lead in first round series

THE Wizards wasted a double-digit lead, rallying late for a 109-101 victory over the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday in Washington (Thursday, Manila time).

John Wall and Bradley Beal continued their fine play as the Wizards took a 2-0 lead in their Eastern Conference first round playoff series.

The Wizards led 53-43 early in the third but allowed the Hawks to fight back.

Atlanta led by seven but made only one basket in the final two and a half minutes, a triple by Paul Millsap with 22 seconds left.

Wall scored 32 points and made nine assists, while Beal had 31 points on 12 of 27 shooting.

Marcin Gortat came up with 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Brandon Jennings came off the bench to score 10.

Game Three is in Atlanta on Saturday.

Paul Millsap had 27 points and 10 rebounds, Dennis Schroder scored 23 and Tim Harwaday Jr. added 19 for the Hawks.
