GEORGE Hill fueled a pivotal late run before the Utah Jazz turned to defense to hand the San Antonio Spurs a rare home loss and its first defeat of the season, 106-91, on Tuesday (Wednesday, Manila time) at the AT&T Center.

The Jazz built a 10-point lead at the end of the first quarter but the Spurs cut it down to two entering the fourth period, and kept it a tight battle until midway in the final frame.

After a Pau Gasol slam put the Spurs within a basket, 86-88, at the 5:24 mark, Hill went on an 8-2 tear to put the Jazz up 96-88. Kawhi Leonard then scored San Antonio’s final bucket with 3:47 to go as Utah locked down on defense to seal the win.

Hill had 22 points and seven assists to help Utah even its record to 2-2. Rodney Hood added 19 markers, while Trey Lyles and Shelvin Mack chipped in 15 and 14, respectively, off the bench.
