TYLER Johnson scored 23 points off the bench as the Miami Heat defeated the Atlanta Hawks 108-90 on Friday night (Saturday, Manila time).
The Heat (26-32) stayed on track in the bid to return to the playoof placings with 15 wins in their last 17 games to move to within four games of .500 and trail eighth place Detroit Pistons by 2 1/2 games.
Miami leaned on its outside shooting, burying 17 of 37 3-pointers to overwhelm the undermanned Hawks who suspended point guard Dennis Schroder for one game after failing to return on time from a visit to his native Germany for the All-Star break.
Paul Millsap scored 21 points for a Hawks team that lacked offensive and defensive coehsion in the game. A misfiring Tim Hardaway Jr. had 11 points while Kent Bazemore added 10.
Miami made 11 of 19 from downtown in the first half as they outscored Atlanta 29-15 for a 63-49 halftime lead.
Goran Dragic had 17 points, Dion Waiters scored 14 and Rodney McGruder added 13 for Miami. Luke Babbitt was 4 of 6 on 3s for 12 points.
Ersan Ilyasova, acquired by the Hawks from the 76ers last week, had nine points in his debut.
