DEMAR DeRozan and Jonas Valanciunas combined for 72 points as Toronto had a sterling home debut in beating Detroit, 109-91, at the Air Canada Centre on Wednesday (Thursday, Manila time).
Valanciunas started the Raptors onslaught early with 21 points at the break to lead Toronto to a 58-46 lead at halftime.
Then DeRozan waxed hot with 21 points in the third quarter alone, before teaming up again with Kyle Lowry and Valanciunas in the fourth period to keep the Pistons from mounting a comeback.
DeRozan led all scorers with 40 points while Valanciunas posted his career-high 32 markers to go with 11 rebounds.
Tobias Harris led the Pistons with 22 points while Andre Drummond had 16 markers in 24 foul-plagued minutes.
