STANLEY Pringle will most likely be part of Team Pilipinas’ line-up against Kazakhstan on November 30, while Christian Standhardinger will suit up for the Iran game on December 3 in the Fiba Basketball World Cup Asian qualifiers at the Mall of Asia Arena.
National coach Yeng Guiao is once again forced to make a decision to field the two players in separate games due to Fiba rules with Pringle and Standhardinger considered as naturalized players having obtained Philippine passports after they turned 16 years old.
“90 percent, 1-1 na ‘yan. Ibig sabihin, not unless pagkatapos ng meeting namin biglang may (mangyari), more or less si Stanley sa Kazakhstan, si Christian sa Iran,” said Guiao following the end of Wednesday morning’s practice at the Meralco gym.
Guiao made a similar move in the last window when Standhardinger played in the Iran game in Tehran, while Pringle suited up against Qatar in a closed door game at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
Standhardinger had a strong showing against Iran with 30 points and 12 rebounds, while Pringle had 13 points against Qatar.
Standhardinger is also expected to be a vital player against Iran's tall lineup led by former NBA player Hamed Haddadi.
As of posting time though, Guiao said he has not yet decided on who the final two spots will be for Gilas’ match against Kazakhstan on Friday.
“Wala pa. Pag-uusapan namin over lunch ‘yung last two spots,” Guiao said.
