THE Christmas clash between Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers will be a little less stellar with Stephen Curry out for the NBA Finals rematch as he remains sidelined with an ankle injury.

The Warriors announced on Tuesday (Wednesday, Manila time) that Curry has been making progress in his recovery from a sprained ankle he suffered in a win over the New Orleans Pelicans on December 4.

“The evaluation indicated that the ankle is healing well and that he is making good progress overall, enabling him to progress to modified on-court workouts in the coming days,” the team announced in a statement after Tuesday’s re-evaluation.

However, Curry is scheduled for another evaluation in a week, ruling him out for the December 25 game against the Cavs.

The Warriors have a game on Wednesday (Thursday, Manila time) against the Memphis Grizzlies, with Draymond Green, Zaza Pachulia and Shaun Livingston questionable due to various injuries.

Golden State has won nine games in a row, including the last five without Curry.
