THE Chinese New Year is just around the corner, and the NBA joins the world in the celebration with a star-studded ad featuring reigning MVP Stephen Curry, James Harden, and Jeremy Lin.
In the TV spot called 'Dining Table,' Curry, Harden, and Lin are shown joining a Chinese family for a New Year's Day meal. Curry and Harden are wearing their respective team's Chinese New Year jerseys, with the Rockets superstar showcasing his stirring skills while the Warriors own 'chef' leads the toast in Chinese.
Meanwhile, Lin naturally joins the celebration as the Charlotte Hornets point guard is the first American-born NBA player of Chinese or Taiwanese ancestry.
The ad will run until February 22 on NBA TV and digital partners' platforms, especially in China. Check it out here.
Aside from the ad, the NBA has grand plans for celebrating the Year of the Monkey. Other than Golden State and Houston, the Washington Wizards also have specialized uniforms specifically meant for the Chinese New Year.
The league also features two games where both teams wear jerseys with Chinese characters for the first time, starting with the Wizards hosting the Warriors on February 3 and the next is when the Rockets visit the Warriors on February 9, with the host teams staging arena events in honor of Chinese culture.
