SM Prime Holdings Inc. president Hans Sy assured basketball fans on Tuesday that tickets to the NBA preseason game between the Houston Rockets and the Indiana Pacers will be affordable since the cost will be partly subsidized by sponsors.
The son of business taipan Henry Sy, Jr. made the assurance before mediamen during Tuesday's launch of the October 10 event at the Mall of Asia Arena, saying they have tapped several sponsors to make sure the huge cost of holding the historic game won't be passed on to ticket buyers.
“I was somewhat prepared about the (expensive) amount (of hosting the preseason game) especially when I went to Orlando during last year’s All-Star Games because as I always said, I wanted to bring something to the Filipino fans,” Sy said.
“But to be very frank, these will be subsidized prices because we took sponsors to cover the cost,” he added.
There had been reports that tickets for seats at the back of the two teams' benches may cost as much as P50,000 each.
SM and MOA officials, however, said prices have yet to be set and plans for the sale of the tickets have yet to be finalized.
