ACTIVE and former stars of the NBA are being lined up for visits in the country in the next few months leading up to the NBA preseason game between the Indiana Pacers and the Houston Rockets in October.

Mall of Asia business unit head Arnel Gonzales said some NBA players past and present will visit the country starting next month to drum up interest for the first NBA preseason game to be held in the country.

“Yes, we do have a couple of players coming in by July and August. We’re just fixing their schedules with the NBA,” said Gonzales, declining to reveal the names until the negotiations have been finalized.

The appearances could help in the sale of tickets for the October 11 game, which Gonzales admitted has plateaued in recent days after a brisk start.

“We still have tickets available in the P8,000 (Section C), P32,000 (Premium A) and P27,000 (Premium B). So very balanced naman. Kumbaga, nasa natural state lang ng pag-plateau,” the MOA executive added.

SM Tickets began selling tickets for the Rockets-Pacers preseason match on June 16. In a matter of hours, the 400 tickets alloted for the P550 Section E were sold out.

However, the more pricey tickets like Section C, Premium A and Premium B are still available.

“Para sa mga hindi talaga nanonood ng NBA, mahal ang tickets but we’re expecting ticket sales to go up the next couple of days dahil payday weekend. At para naman sa iba na gusto manood ng game, they will just have to save up,” explained Gonzales.
