THE Celtics overcame the early exit of Kyrie Irving, edging the Charlotte Hornets, 90-87, on Friday in Boston (Saturday, Manila time).
Irving fell after getting hit with an elbow to the face inadvertently by teammate Aron Baynes in the first quarter.
The Celtics star guard was brought to the locker room and never returned. He managed to take just one attempt in two minutes of action.
Point guard Shane Larkin came off the bench to deliver 16 points in 17 minutes of action, making 5 of 8 field goal attempts including 2 of 3 from beyond the arc.
Jayson Tatum played 31 minutes and also had 16 points, while Terry Rozier had 15 points off the bench.
Marcus Morris scored 14 and Jaylen Brown added 10 for Boston, which extended its win streak to 11 after starting the season with back-to-back losses.
The Hornets suffered their fourth straight loss and now hold a 5-7 card.
Kemba Walker scored 20 and Frank Kaminsky had 14 points off the bench.
