Hawks score wire-to-wire victory to trim series deficit against Wizards

THE Hawks took control early and cruised to a 116-98 victory over the Washington Wizards on Saturday in Atlanta (Sunday, Manila time).

Paul Millsap and Dennis Schroder led the Hawks, who zoomed ahead with a 38-20 first quarter and were never threatened, taking their first win in the Eastern Conference first round playoff series after losing the first two games on the road.

The Hawks made 44 of 89 field goal attempts for 49.4 percent, while Wizards shot 37 of 89 for 41.6 percent.

Millsap scored 29 points on 12 of 20 shooting, while Schroder went 10 for 22 and wound up with 27 points.

Taurean Prince added 16 points, making 7 of 10 field goal attempts.

Game Four is on Monday in Washington.

John Wall had 29 points on 10 of 12 shooting, while Brandon Jennings came off the bench to score 13.

Bradley Beal struggled, shooting 6 for 20 and winding up with 12 points and Bojan Bogdanovic had 11 points off the bench.
