SAN Antonio remained unscathed on the road after Patty Mills led a furious comeback to help the Spurs take down the Dallas Mavericks, 94-87, at the American Airlines Center on Wednesday (Thursday, Manila time).
The Spurs clawed back from a 13-point deficit late in the third, after the Mavericks recovered from falling behind by 12 early in the second quarter. Dallas even led by eight, 77-69, with seven minutes left in the game, but Mills took over in the fourth period, scoring 15 in the quarter to help San Antonio complete the come-from-behind win.
Mills started an 11-2 run with his first of three triples in the quarter and Kawhi Leonard added seven points in that blitz. After a Wes Matthews trey got the Mavs within one at the 2:49 mark, Mills knocked down a three-pointer and a jumper to put Dallas away for good.
San Antonio only had three players in double figures, led by Mills’ 23 points. Leonard added 21, 18 in the second half, and Danny Green chipped in 11. The Spurs improved to 15-4, 11-0 on the road.
Matthews had a season-high 26 points for Dallas, who fell to 3-14. Harrison Barnes added 17 while Seth Curry and Dwight Powell had 14 and 10 markers, respectively, off the bench.
