SACRAMENTO zoomed to a wire-to-wire win over Phoenix, 113-94, in both teams’ season openers on Wednesday (Thursday, Manila time) at the Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix.
Rudy Gay carried the fight early as the Kings built a 57-38 lead at the half. Then DeMarcus Cousins woke up in the third to lead Sacramento, with 16 points scored in the period.
Sacramento never let Phoenix come close in the final frame as well, this time led by Gay who put in 11 points in the fourth quarter.
Cousins led all scorers with 24 points while Gay added 22 and Matt Barnes chipped in 14 off the bench for the Kings.
Devin Booker had 18 points in the Suns’ losing cause, and Eric Bledsoe contributed 16 markers while TJ Warren added 14.
