THE Sacramento Kings added another veteran to guide the young squad after reaching an agreement with Vince Carter for a one-year, $8 million deal on Thursday (Friday, Manila time).
The report was confirmed to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski by Carter’s agents.
The 40-year-old Carter is the NBA’s oldest active player and one of two remaining players in the league from the 1998 draft, along with Dirk Nowitzki.
Last season, Carter played a solid role off the Memphis Grizzlies bench with averages of 8 points and 3.1 rebounds in 24.6 minutes a game.
The 8-time All-Star looks to surpass Patrick Ewing for the 21st spot in the all-time scoring list and could even bump off Jerry West from the top 20 as his 24,555 point-total is just 638 points shy from the mark of the Laker legend.
After taking the lead role in the Toronto Raptors and New Jersey Nets, Carter has turned into a valuable mentor and off-the-bench scorer late in his career.
