KRISTAPS Porzingis was at odds with a New York Knicks official when he skipped the team’s exit interview after the 2016-2017 season. But it turns out his beef was not with then-team president Phil Jackson, but with head coach Jeff Hornacek.

In a report by Peter Vecsey on Tuesday (Wednesday, Manila time), Porzingis has taken a lot of heat from Hornacek the entire season, a feud that boiled over at one point when the Knicks coach asked the Latvian star’s closest pal in the team, Willy Hernangomez, to tell him to ‘stop playing like a pu**y.’

The request naturally didn’t go well with Porzingis, who skipped the exit interview and shut out his Knicks coach.

Initial reports of the skipped meetings noted that the cause could have been due to Jackson, who saw his turbulent three-year stay with Knicks end during the offseason.

Vecsey’s report also noted that Hornacek was not as demanding or brutal to Carmelo Anthony despite Porzingis becoming one of the Knicks’ few bright spots in a dysfunctional season. The 22-year-old big man averaged 18.1 points, 7.2 rebounds and 2 blocks per game in his sophomore season.

But Vecsey noted that both the Knicks star big man and coach are back on speaking terms, which comes at the right time as the team prepares for a new season.
