SAN Antonio is hoping against hope that Kawhi Leonard will stay with the team.
The disgruntled Leonard has reportedly stayed firm on his desire to be traded after a recent with Spurs coach Gregg Popovich in South California turned out to be unfruitful.
But Spurs general manager R.C. Buford refused to give up on their star wingman after talking to reporters on Friday, Manila time.
ESPN reporter Michael C. Wright was among the reporter present and he took a video of the interview.
“Kawhi and his family mean a lot to our organization and to community, and none of us wish we are where we are,” Buford said. “We’re going to do what we can to build the best relationship we can with him, and we’ll explore all of our options.”
“But the first one would be to do what we can to keep Kawhi as a part of our group,” he was quick to add.
