JARON Johnson had 16 points and 10 rebounds, while Rockets first-round pick Sam Dekker scored 16 points as the Rio Grande Valley Vipers whipped the Texas Legends, 113-101, in the NBA D-League on Friday in Hidalgo, Texas (Saturday, Manila time).
The Vipers scored their 19th win in 36 games to stay firmly in second in the Southwest Division ahead of the Legends, who have an even win-loss record of 17-17. The Austin Spurs lead the Atlantic Division with a 21-13 mark.
Tu Holloway came up with a game-high 20 points and the rest of the Texas starters also scored in double figures, but that wasn’t enough to lift the Legends.
Fil-Am Ray Parks went scoreless in nine minutes of action for the Legends.
The Vipers and Legends face off anew on Saturday.
