RAY ALLEN has committed to sign with NBA champion Miami Heat, according to a tweet by the team's managing general partner Micky Arison.
“Its 2:30am in London and I was just woken up with great news. Welcome to the family #20!!,” tweeted Arison, referring to Allen’s jersey number.
Allen’s agent Jim Tanner confirmed the development to ESPN.com.
The 36-year-old Allen leaves the Celtics after five seasons. Together with Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett, Boston won the 2007-2008 NBA title.
In other free agency news, Brandon Roy, who retired due to nagging injuries, will sign with the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The Philadelphia 76ers will sign Nick Young and is set to release former All-Star Elton Brand.
