Raptors take control early and hold on to beat Warriors in Game Three

THE Toronto Raptors regained control of the NBA Finals, taking the lead early and holding off the Golden State Warriors for a 123-109 win in Game Three on Wednesday in Oakland (Thursday, Manila time).

Kawhi Leonard led a balanced Raptors offense, scoring 30 on 9 of 17 shooting, while all the other starters finished with double-digit scores.

Kyle Lowry went 8 for 16 and wound up with 23 points, Danny Green and Pascal Siakam added 18 each, while Marc Gasol scored 17 as the Raptors moved ahead in the series 2-1.

The Raptors seized control with a 36-29 first period and never looked back, as the Warriors’ second-half surge never came.

Steph Curry had 47 points but that was not enough to lift the Golden State squad still missing Kevin Durant and now without Klay Thompson.

Durant has missed eight games due to a strained calf, while Thompson suffered a hamstring injury in Game Two of the NBA Finals.
