THE Knicks still own New York, at least in the preseason.
New York turned back Brooklyn in a tightly contested match, 116-111, as the Knicks closed their preseason stint on a two-game win streak while the Nets tumbled to the fifth straight loss on Thursday (Friday, Manila time) at the Barclays Arena.
Brooklyn held a two-point lead at the break, but New York started to heat up in the third quarter, with Carmelo Anthony pouring eight of his team-high 21 points in the period and Kyle O’Quinn going on a 9-0 run on his own after the game was tied at 78 with 2:03 minutes remaining in the quarter.
Jeremy Lin kept the Nets close in the fourth frame, scoring 13 of his game-high 24 points, but the Knicks bench did enough to douse Brooklyn’s rally.
Anthony found ample support as Courtney Lee and Justin Holiday contributed 15 and 14 points, respectively, for the Knicks.
Joe Harris chipped in 15 off the bench for Brooklyn, while Brook Lopez and Bojan Bogdanovic added 12 apiece.
