D’ANGELO Russell led the Lakers balanced attack to get back at the Nuggets, 124-115, in NBA preseason action at the Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, Canada on Sunday (Monday, Manila time).
Russell continued his stellar preseason showing for the Luke Walton coached-Lakers with a game-high 33 points, 20 in the first half. Lou Williams added 25 for LA, as the Lakers starting backcourt combined for 8-of-14 from beyond the arc.
Russell waxed hot early but it was Williams who turned it up late, as he scored 15 consecutive points in the fourth quarter, doing so in a span of less than 3 minutes.
Starters Julius Randle and Nick Young also chipped in 16 and 14 points, respectively, while Jordan Clarkson was solid off the bench again with 12 markers as the Lakers improved to 2-1 this preseason, avenging their lone loss to the Nuggets last Friday.
But the shooting woes continued for Lakers top rookie Brandon Ingram, as he finished with just four points and made just one of his two attempts from the field.
Jusuf Nurkic led the way for Denver with 21 points and 16 rebounds, and Danilo Gallinari added 19 while Will Barton contributed 15, but the Nuggets fell to their first loss of the preseason.
