NEW coach, same old high-octane Rockets.
James Harden took charge in his new role as point guard of the Mike D’Antoni-coached Houston team in handing the retooled New York Knicks squad a sound beating, 130-103, on Tuesday (Wednesday, Manila time) at the Toyota Center.
Harden had 28 points and 11 assists, and found ample firepower from his teammates as new recruit Ryan Anderson went 7 for 13 from three-point range and finished with 26 points and seven rebounds.
Overall, the Rockets sank 20 triples out of 42 attempts.
Derrick Rose had 16 points and five assists in his Knicks debut. He is now expected to leave the team and travel to Los Angeles, where his rape trial began earlier Tuesday.
Kristaps Porzingis led the Knicks with 22 points, Carmelo Anthony scored 10 on 4-for-13 shooting.
