THE Philadelphia 76ers overcame Steph Curry’s sizzling showing to send the Golden State Warriors crashing with a 113-104 decision at the Warriors turf at the Oracle Arena in Oakland on Friday, Manila time.
The one-two punch of All-Stars Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons trumped Curry, who knocked down 10 of his 18 triples on the way to a 41-point explosion as the Sixers put an end to the Warriors’ 11-game win streak.
Embiid tallied 26 points, 20 rebounds, five assists, and two steals, while Simmons added 26 points, eight boards, six assists, three steals, and one block as the Sixers won for the third game in a row and fifth in six games to improve to 34-18 overall.
The Warriors dropped to 36-15, but are still half a game ahead of the Denver Nuggets for the Western Conference lead.
Kevin Durant provided support to Curry with 25 points, four boards, four assists, and two steals, but Demarcus Cousins was held to just seven points on 3-of-10 shooting, along with six rebounds, six assists, three steals, and one block in 25 minutes as a starter.
