ORGANIZERS have launched a probe after a media pass for the NBA preseason game between the Indiana Pacers and the Houston Rockets on Thursday was put up for sale online.
The online advertisement appeared on a buy-and-sell website as well as on social networking site Facebook starting on Monday and had the alleged owner selling his media credential for P30,000.
Insider bared organizers have already verified that the media pass is authentic and that it had been issued to a mediaman working for a television network.
According to the NBA, no less than 1,138 media passes have been issued for the 10 league games (eight preseason and two regular-season games) that will be played in 10 cities in seven countries this month.
Sources said nearly a hundred media passes have been issued for the trail-blazing Manila game to print, broadcast, and online mediamen.
The media pass being sold online is priced just slightly lower than the most expensive tickets being sold by Mall of Asia's official online ticketing outlet - the Premium A seats which are priced at P32,300.
However, sources said the so-called 'Jack Nicholson' seats have already been pre-sold for more than P50,000.

Still, the media pass not only gives the buyer the chance to watch the game but also access to the other official working areas inside the MOA Arena.
The online ad has since been taken down by the website.
Regular tickets to the games are still being sold by scalpers online, curiously some lower than the original price. One Premium B ticket priced at P27,000 is now being sold for P18,000.
However, officials of SM Tickets have warned that tickets from other online sources will not be honored at the MOA Arena gates.
