SCALPERS, some of them college students, made a killing on Wednesday as frustrated LeBron James fans who lined up in vain for hours outside a Nike Park outlet at The Fort to get hold of tickets to see the Miami star in the flesh turned to ticket touts out of desperation.

    The tickets didn't come cheap.

One exasperated fan who waited in line for hours outside the Nike Park outlet ended up shelling out P1,000 for the chance to see the four-time NBA MVP during his Fans' Day on Tuesday, albeit from the so-called 'nose-bleed seats' of the Mall of Asia Arena.

With the lines so long the fans filled an entire vacant lot outside the outlet, other fans ended up buying Upper Box seats which offer a slightly better view of the Heat star for P3,500. The same tickets are being peddled for P4,500 by ticket touts online.

A check online showed tickets being peddled for as much as P10,000 to P20,000.

A college student from a computer school who refused to be named told Spin.ph that he and his four other friends got hold of general admission tickets during the release of the tickets at 12 noon on Wednesday after lining up as early as 8 p.m. on Tuesday.

“Doon na ako natulog,” said the student.

Another scalper who was selling his upper box seats said that he got his tickets from a "sponsor."

Fans also complained that the lines were either slow-moving or not moving at all. Worst, bouncers were forced to fix the line after a free-for-all occurred in the early-afternoon rush.

“Magulo ‘yung pila,” said Grego Dilig, an accounting assistant. “Hindi organized.”

Zarah Pascua, a certified public accountant, also said that she had no choice but to buy from scalpers since she had waited in line as early as 9 a.m. with no hope of getting hold of the estimated 4,000 tickets given out by Nike Philippines.

Others who came early got hold of the free tickets but not after several hours of waiting.

“10 p.m. nasa pila na ako, nakuha ko ‘yung ticket ng 5:30 p.m.,” said a fan.

Nevertheless, Dilig and Pascua were happy to get hold of the tickets, even if they bought them from scalpers.

“Nandito pa rin ako sa likod kasi hindi gumagalaw. Mabuti na ‘yung bumili na lang sa scalper kesa umuwi ako ng walang ticket. Kasi nandito na rin lang kami,” said Pascua.

“Once in a lifetime lang pumunta dito sa LeBron kaya okay lang,” Dilig added.
