LOS Angeles Lakers guards Jordan Clarkson and Nick Young are facing allegations of sexual harassment from a woman who claimed the two NBA players hurled 'vulgar, sexual' gestures at her and her mother at a Hollywood intersection.
In a report by ESPN, Alexis Jones, an activist trying to stop athletes from committing sexual harassment, sexual abuse and domestic violence, made the accusations in an Instagram post where the two players were later identified online as Young and Clarkson.
Jones said incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. on Sunday near the intersection of La Brea and Melrose avenues, where a Jeep with four men pulled up alongside them. According to Jones, the men inside the Jeep began making "vulgar, sexual" gestures toward her mother.
"She was super rattled. That's the truth. It scared her," Jones told ESPN. "We were in a small car, and they were in a big Jeep, and it was a bunch of big dudes. They're leaning out of the car and making vulgar, sexual gestures. My mom was really shocked. That immediately turned into sobbing."
Lakers spokesman John Black said the team is taking the allegation against the two players 'very seriously.' He added Lakers head coach Byron Scott has addressed the complaint with the two players.
According to Jones, a meeting she had sought with Clarkson and Young failed to push through.
Young posted a statement on Twitter shortly after the allegations became public. He deleted the posts later.
Clarkson, a Fil-American guard in his second season with the Lakers, has not made any statement about the matter. His last post on Twitter was last March 18, when he talked about the new jerseys to be worn by Gilas Pilipinas in the coming Olympic qualifers in Manila.
The 6-5 guard has expressed a desire to play for Gilas in the July 5-10 qualifiers. His rookie contract with the Lakers is set to expire at the end of the season.
Jones said she took pictures of the men with her phone and posted them to Instagram.
