Oklahoma City Thunder acquire Taj Gibson, send Cameron Payne to Chicago Bulls in five-player trade

THE Oklahoma City Thunder has reportedly acquired Taj Gibson in a trade with the Chicago Bulls.

A report from The Vertical on Thursday (Friday, Manila time) said that according persons with knowledge of the deal, Chicago is also sending Doug McDermott and a 2018 second-round pick to the Thunder in exchange for Cameron Payne, Joffrey Lauvergne and Anthony Morrow.

A free agent next season, the 31-year okd Gibson will provide Oklahoma City energy and a defensive frontcourt presence. In eight seasons with the Bulls, the 6-9 forward averaged 9.4 points and 6.4 rebounds.

The Thunder, currently has a 32-25 record and in the seventh spot in the Western Conference, is looking for pieces to help their All-Star guard Russell Westbrook.

Doug McDermott, a former star at Creighton, was the  11th overall in 2014. He averaged 10.2 points per game for the Bulls this season.

Payne was the 14th overall pick in the 2015 draft and averaged 5.3 points in 20 games for the Thunder this season.
