NBA scoring leader Anthony Davis tore up the Lakers defense for 41 points to lead the Pelicans dominant win, 105-88, on Tuesday (Wednesday, Manila time) at the Smoothie King Center.

New Orleans never trailed and set the blowout in the first quarter as Davis scored on an array of jumpers and layups to end up with 33-22 lead after the period. It didn’t help the Lakers side that Nick Young was carried off just two minutes into the game due to a strained Achilles tendon.

Langston Galloway then poured all his eight points in the second frame to help the Pelicans outscore the Lakers, 32-19, in the period. Davis, who also ended up with 16 rebounds, put on a scoring clinic in the third, making eight of the team’s 10 field goals in the quarter, as the Pelicans led by as much as 28 points and the lead never dipped below 16 the rest of the way.

Davis also got ample support from Jrue Holiday, who had 22 points in his first start for the Pelicans, who snapped a two-game skid and improved to 7-12.

Julius Randle came back from a three-game absence due to a hip injury to lead the Lakers in scoring with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Timofey Mozgov was the only other Laker in double figures with 10. Jordan Clarkson struggled with his shot, making just 4-of-14, to end up with nine markers as the Lakers fell to 9-10.
