Spurs ride strong second quarter to victory over lowly Pelicans

THE Spurs broke open a tight game late in the second period and cruised to a 113-100 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans on Sunday in San Antonio (Monday, Manila time).

LaMarcus Aldridge led all scorers with 22 points as the Spurs made it four straight wins.

Manu Ginobili came off the bench to score 17 points for the Spurs, who were still behind by two midway through the second before stepping on the gas for a 12-point advantage by halftime.

Kawhi Leonard came up with 13 points on 5 of 10 shooting for the Spurs, who have won 22 of 27 games.

The Pelicans absorbed their second straight loss and 20th in 29 outings.

Alexis Ajinca led New Orleans with 16 points on 8 of 12 shooting, while Anthony Davis went 5 for 12 and finished with 12 points.
