LEBRON James will suit up but Kyrie Irving will sit out the Cleveland Cavaliers’ preseason opener on Wednesday (Thursday, Manila time), according to coach Tyronn Lue.

Lue said Irving’s absence in the game against the Orlando Magic is one of the team's efforts to provide additional rest and avoid injury to his star guard after seeing action with Team USA in the 2016 Rio Olympics. Irving averaged 22 minutes a game as a starter for the gold medal-winning squad.

“We kind of mapped out his schedule, just tomorrow he’s not going to play,” Lue told Cleveland.com.

Lue has yet to decide who takes Irving’s spot at point guard, which could be rookie Kaye Felder, Jordan McRae or DeAndre Liggins.

Meanwhile, LeBron James will suit up but only for a limited time when the Cavs face the Magic.

“For the most part we’re going to try to make sure our guys play at home, play our home game for our fans, and after that we’ll just have to evaluate and see how how they feel,” Lue said.
