Minnesota Timberwolves working on deal to buy out Kevin Garnett contract

THE Minnesota Timberwolves are reportedly set to buy out the contract of Kevin Garnett.

The Wolves and Garnett have been holding discussions during the summer, according to Associated Press sources.

The 40-year old future Hall of Famer returned to the team in 2014 after stints with the Boston Celtics and the Brooklyn Nets and is set to make $8 million this season.

Fifth overall pick in the 1995 NBA draft as a high school standout, Garnett is currently the only player from that decade still active in the league but injuries have considerably hampered his on-court production.

He posted per game averages of 3.2 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 14 minutes of action as a veteran presence to a young Wolves squad.
