LA Lakers turn up defense in third quarter to beat skidding Orlando Magic

THE Lakers held the Orlando Magic to just nine points in the third quarter and eased to a 111-95 victory on Sunday in Los Angeles (Monday, Manila time).

Julius Randle led the way for the Lakers, who were up by only two at halftime but took control with a 19-9 third period.

The Lakers made it two straight wins, recording their 15th victory in 41 outings.

Randle had 19 points and was a rebound short of a double-double, while D’Angelo Russell and Brandon Ingram had 17 points each.

Jordan Clarkson scored nine points in 29 minutes.

The Magic shot 37.8 overall and 26.9 from beyond the arc as they skidded to a third straight loss and 23rd in 39 games.

Serge Ibaka had 19 points and 10 rebounds, while Evan Fournier and Nikola Vucevic had 19 points each.
