Raptors defeat Pelicans as Anthony Davis leaves early with injury

JONAS Valanciunas had 25 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Toronto Raptors to a 94-87 victory on Wednesday (Thursday, Manila time) over the slumping New Orleans Pelicans who played without All-Star forward Anthony Davis in the second half.

Davis injured his left wrist after he crashed on the court during New Orleans’ final possession of the first half. Davis was fouled by Normal Powell as he tried to catch an alley-oop pass. Davis made two free throws after the foul, but did not return from the locker room after halftime.

DeMar DeRozan had 14 points and 6 assists for the Raptors while Serge Ibaka added 12 points and 5 rebounds.

DeMarcus Cousins finished with 25 points and 10 rebounds for the Pelicans which fell to 1-6 after he was traded to the team.
