ISAIAH Thomas' status for the NBA Playoffs first round opener between the Boston Celtics and Chicago Bulls was cast in doubt following the death of his sister in a fatal car accident on Saturday (Sunday, Manila time).

In a report by the Tacoma News Tribune, the Washington State Patrol said Chyna Thomas, 22, was found dead on the scene of a one-car accident at around 5 a.m. on Interstate 5 in Federal Way between Tacoma and Seattle.

According to witnesses, the car was travelling normally before drifting into a barrier, leading to the automobile getting wrecked.

"We are terribly saddened by the tragic loss of Chyna Thomas. The thoughts and prayers of the entire Celtics organization are with Isaiah and his family," the Celtics said in a statement.

The team, however, had no statement on Thomas' status for Game One of the Celtics-Bulls series
