Celtics arrange Eastern Conference title series with Cavs after edging out Wizards

THE Celtics arranged a showdown for the title in the East with the Cleveland Cavaliers after eliminating the Washington Wizards with a 115-105 Game Seven victory in the conference semifinals on Monday in Boston (Tuesday, Manila time).

Isaiah Thomas showed the way for Boston, which held Washington to four points in a four-minute stretch bridging the third and fourth quarters to build a 94-83 lead.

The Eastern Conference top seeds Celtics host the opener and second game of the best-of-seven conference finals against the No. 2 Cavaliers.

Boston needed six games to dispose of the eight-seeded Chicago Bulls.

Cleveland, on the other hand, is unbeaten in these playoffs, sweeping past the Indiana Pacers and Toronto Raptors.

Thomas went 9 for 21 in 40 minutes of action, finishing with 29 points and 12 assists.

Kylly Olynyk came off the bench to deliver 26 points on 10 of 14 shooting.
