Heat torch Suns but Hassan Whiteside suffers hand injury

THE Heat got back on the winning track, sending the Phoenix Suns to their fifth straight loss, 112-97, but Hassan Whiteside suffered a hand injury on Tuesday in Miami (Wednesday, Manila time).

Whiteside came up with 23 points and 14 rebounds, but got his right hand caught in the foam on the bottom of the backboard and needed stitches.

The Heat are waiting to determine the extent of the injury.

Tyler Johnson came off the bench to deliver 17 points on 7 of 17 shooting, while Goran Dragic went 6 for 15 and wound up with 16 points.

Josh Richardson added 14 points for Miami, which now holds a 35-36 win-loss record.

The Suns suffered their 49th loss in 71 games.

Marquese Chriss came up with 24 points, while Leandro Barbosa had 13 points off the bench for Phoenix.
