Magic overcome skidding Heat in double overtime

EVAN Fournier and Nikola Vucevic scored 26 points apiece as the Orlando Magic outlasted the Heat in double overtime, 136-130, on Tuesday in Miami (Wednesday, Manila time).

Elfrid Payton 22 points and six assists for the Magic (13-17) while Serge Ibaka went 4-for-5 from downtown for 20 points in the latest edition of the Florida rivalry.  

Miami (9-20) led by as many as 12 points but Orlando fought back in the second half. A 10-footer from Ibaka tied the game 109-all at the end of regulation.

A three-pointer from Justise Winslow gave Miami a 117-113 lead before Vucevic and Payton sank successive free throws that paved the way for the second extension.

In the second overtime, the score was tied 123-all when Fournier’s three-pointer followed by a short jumper from Ibaka gave the Magic a 128-123 cushion.      

Hassan Whiteside had 32 points, 15 rebounds and five blocks for Miami which has lost for the third game in a row. Tyler Johnson also scored 32 points off the bench.
