Covington hits game-winning triple as Sixers stretch streak to three with squeaker over skidding Blazers

ROBERT Covington hit the game-winning triple off a TJ McConnell assist to cap a Sixers fightback from double-digits down, beating the Portland Trail Blazers, 93-92, on Friday in Philadelphia (Saturday, Manila time).

Covington’s trey with four seconds left completed the come-from-behind win after Damian Lillard split his charities off a Gerald Henderson foul, giving the Blazers only a two-point cushion, 92-90, with 14 seconds left.

Before that, Covington sank a 25-footer off a Dario Saric assist to push the Sixers within 91-90.

Ersan Ilyasova scored 24 points on 9 of 14 shooting, while Covington finished with 22 as the Sixers notched their 15th win in 41 outings.

Joel Embiid had a double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds.

The Blazers absorbed their fourth straight loss and 27th in 45 games.

Lillard scored 30 points on 12 of 25 shooting, while McCollum made 5 of 18 shots and wound up with 16 points for Portland.
