EGS-Elite asserts mastery of NBA 3X Philippines, nabs fourth straight men's open crown
EGS-Elite dominated the men's open division of NBA 3X Philippines for the fourth straight year.

EGS-Elite nabbed its fourth straight title in the NBA 3X Philippines men’s open division after beating Ako Two Team, 13-8, on Sunday at the Mall of Asia Music Hall.

Playing coach Rocky Acidre, Rutger Acidre, Mark Anthony Doligon, and Ian Garrido topped the rest of the competition as EGS-Elite once again ruled the event that was graced by Milwaukee Bucks standout Michael Carter-Williams.

EGS-Elite beat Sto. Nino, 21-17, in the semifinals; UCONN, 15-12, in the quarterfinals; and Marikina, 17-10, in the round-of-16, while also topping Group G in the preliminaries with a  3-0 win-loss slate.

Meanwhile, Team Jacob Liit topped the Under-16 boys division after beating HIMC 5, 14-8, while Brodiac, with Kenji Duremdes and Rhayyan Amsali leading the way, topped the Under-18 boys.

In the girls division, Balon Dagupan A captured the Under-16 crown with a win over Caloocan, while National University-A took home the women’s open division trophy with a 10-5 victory over Admirals.

In the individual categories, Jerome Hamac from Zamboanga won the Panasonic Three-Point Shootout, Gabriel Aveno from Bulacan captured the Sprite Diskarte Like-A-King Challenge champion and Axl Tolentino of Caloocan ruled the Panasonic Shooting Stars.

During the three-day basketball event, young athletes from the Special Olympics Philippines experienced the NBA Cares basketball clinic conducted by Carter-Williams.

Fans present during the weekend at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall were also entertained by the Minnesota Timberwolves Dancers’ high-energy halftime routines and Los Angeles Clippers mascot Chuck the Condor.

The official partners of NBA 3X Philippines 2016 presented by Panasonic include CloudFone, Globe Telecom, Touch Mobile, and Sprite, with SM Mall of Asia and Spalding serving as Supporting Partners.  Official NBA broadcasters for the event are ABS-CBN Sports and Action, Basketball TV, and NBA Premium TV.
