DERON Williams will now sit out the full Dallas Mavericks preseason schedule and is also uncertain for the season opener against the Phoenix Suns.

The 31-year-old point guard strained his left calf muscle a week before training camp opened and yet to play for the Mavs, 0-4 in the preseason.

Dallas still has three preseason games before the opener on Oct. 28.

"He's doing better, but he will not play in the exhibition games," Rick Carlisle said in an article by ESPN’s Tim MacMahon on Sunday (Monday, Manila time).

"We'll see if we can get him ready for the opener. It's been a frustrating thing for him, but we're making progress. We'll get there. I just don't have a timetable."

Also uncertain for the opener are Wesley Matthews, who suffered an Achilles tendon injury but he has been joining Mavericks practices, and Chandler Parsons, who underwent knee surgery and has yet to join full team practice.
