DERON Williams, who has yet to see action in the preseason due to a left calf strain, took part in contact drills at the Dallas Mavericks practice session but was later pulled out due to tightness in the other calf.

“You know, Deron’s other calf was a little tight, so we took him out. We don’t think it’s anything serious, but we’re watching him closely,” Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle told after practice on Friday (Saturday, Manila time).

Dirk Nowitzki also joined training although he and other key players are still expected to be out of the lineup when the Mavericks, winless in two preseason games, play the Thunder on Tuesday in Oklahoma.

Stillm Carlisle seems pleased with what he is seeing.

“You know, we’re still pretty banged up, but we’re generally moving in the right direction,” Carlisle said.

“You know, (Samuel) Dalembert didn’t go, ’cause he’s got a swollen left knee. (Dwight) Powell has not been cleared yet, but we hope to have him cleared relatively soon. He’s doing better, but that’s it.”
