Hawks rally late to beat Nuggets and get back on winning track

STARTING for the injured Dwight Howard, Paul Millsap came up big in the endgame by making two freethrows as Atlanta Hawks beat the Nuggets, 109-108, on Friday in Denver (Saturday, Manila time).

Atlanta trailed by a point, 107-108 with six seconds left in the game when Millsap was sent to the line after being fouled by Darrell Arthur. Millsap sank both charities, prompting Denver to call a 20 second timeout.

Wilson Chandler missed on a running three-pointer and Millsap secured the rebound as time expired.

Denver actually led by eight points with 1:38 in the fourth quarter when Dennis Schroder took over for the Hawks, scoring five of the next seven points before Millsap’s freethrows clinched the win.

The victory brought back the Hawks to .500 with a 14-14 season record. Denver is now 12-18

Schroder led the Hawks with 27 points and five assists. Millsap delivered 20 markers and grabbed eight rebounds. Thabo Sefolosha added 12 points and a pair of crucial freethrows.

Danilo Gallinari had 21 points and 11 rebounds for Denver whoch lost its second straight game. Wilson Chandler had 19 points and 11 boards.
