THE Larry Sanders comeback is over, at least as far as the Cleveland Cavaliers are concerned.

According to a report by ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, the Cavs are waiving Sanders ahead of their regular season finale on Wednesday (Thursday, Manila time) and the reigning champs are looking to sign Edy Tavares, who blocked 11 shots against the same Cavs D-League team where Sanders has spent most of his comeback over the weekend.

After more than a two-year absence, Sanders had an unspectacular showing in the five games he played in his return to the NBA. But the Cavs still made the move of signing the enigmatic center to a two-year non-guaranteed deal in hopes of Sanders getting better for next season.

But with his waiver and the Tavares signing, first reported on The Vertical, Sanders will have to find another team to complete his comeback.

Meanwhile, the Cavaliers are also reportedly signing up free agent Dahntay Jones to a contract on Wednesday, a second straight signing for Jones right on the final regular season game, with Cleveland looking for the right mix for their title defense bid.
