Wizards shake off sluggish start to beat Joel Embiid-less Sixers

THE Wizards overcame a slow start to beat the Joel Embiid-less Philadelphia 76ers, 109-93, on Saturday in Washington (Sunday, Manila time).

Philadelphia got ahead by 10 early before Washington fought back in the second en route to its 20th win in 39 outings.

The Wizards got back on track after bowing to the Boston Celtics.

John Wall scored 25 points, making nine of 17 field goal attempts, while Bradley Beal scored 20 on 8 of 15 shooting.

The Sixers saw their win streak end at three as Joel Embiid was rested.

Jahlil Okafor scored 26 points and was a rebound short of a double-double.

Ersan Ilyasova came up with 18 points on 7 of 13 shooting as the Sixers absorbed their 26th loss in 38 outings.
