CLEVELAND Cavaliers center Chris Andersen is out for the season after suffering an ACL tear on his right knee on Friday (Saturday, Manila time).

Known to fans as the ‘Birdman,’ the colorful big man  sustained a non-contact right knee injury during practice at Cleveland Clinic Courts.

Evaluation revealed the extent of the injury that would require season ending surgery for the 38-year old veteran.

Signed as a free agent in the offseason, Andersen averaged 2.3 points and 2.6 rebounds in 12 games.
