Hawks clobber lowly Sixers to extend win streak to four

THE Atlanta Hawks beat the injury-stricken Philadelphia 76ers, 117-96, to extend their win streak to four games on Saturday (Sunday, Manila time).

Tim Hardaway Jr. scored 20 points for the Hawks (7-2), joint second with the Toronto Raptors in the Eastern Conference.

Kent Bazemore had 17 markers while Dwight Howard, the NBA’s active leader in double-doubles, finished with 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Dennis Schroder added 16 points while Kyle Korver had 14.

The depleted Sixers battled in the second half, cutting the lead to two with 3:50 left in the third before the Hawks regrouped behind Howard and Korver. Hardaway made consecutive triples in the last period to seal the victory.

Jahlil Okafor had 18 points and six rebounds while Sergio Rodriguez added 13 points for the Sixers (1-8) which missed Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons, Nerlens Noel and Jerryd Bayless.

The loss was the team’s 19th straight on the road.
