Double-doubles by Anthony Davis, Terrence Jones power Pelicans past Sixers

THE New Orleans Pelicans took control with strong play in the middle quarters and held on to beat the 76ers, 108-93, on Tuesday in Philadelphia (Wednesday, Manila time).

Anthony Davis had a huge double-double of 31 points and 16 rebounds as the Pelicans stopped a top-game slide.

The Pelicans shook off a sluggish start by outplaying the Sixers in the second period, 42-21, and took a 82-65 third-quarter lead en route to their 10th win in 30 outings.

Terrence Jones also had a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds for New Orleans.

Etwaun Moore added 15 points for the Pelicans, who were coming off losses to the Houston Rockets and San Antonio Spurs.

The Sixers could not get a new win run going after squeaking past the Nets, absorbing their 21st loss in 28 games.

Ersan Ilyasova came off the bench to lead the Sixers with 14 points on 5 of 9 shooting, while starting guard Gerald Henderson came up with 13 points.
