Russell Westbrook posts 28th triple double of season as Thunder send Lakers to third straight loss

RUSSELL Westbrook recorded his league-leading 28th triple double of the season while getting scoring help from Oklahoma City’s young guns and the Thunder won over the Los Angeles Lakers, 110-93, on Friday night (Saturday, Manila time).

Westbrook finished with 17 points, 18 rebounds and 17 assists to go with three steals to lead the Thunder to its second straight win.  

Alex Abrines went 5 for 11 from beyond the arc for a career-high 19 points while fellow starter Andre Roberson added a career-high 19 points (8/9 FGs) and 7 rebounds. Center Steven Adams had 15 points, 10 rebounds, three steals and 2 blocks in the paint.

It was the first game for new Thunder acquisitions Taj Gibson and Doug McDermott, acquired Thursday in a trade with the Chicago Bulls. Gibson scored 12 points and McDermott added eight.

The Thunder took the lead after the first two minutes of the game and never relinquished it.

After a 58-51 lead at the half, the Thunder increased their advantage to 86-66 with 1:51 in the latter part of the third quarter.

The Lakers staged a fourth quarter rally to cut the deficit to 96-87 after a D’Angelo Russell basket at the 4:18 mark before Roberson answered with a triple followed by four straight points from Russell as the Thunder broke away.    

Russell had 29 points and six assists for the Lakers who fell to their third straight loss. Julius Randle finished with 13 points and rebounds while Jordan Clarkson had 14 points, five assists and four steals off the bench.
